About IfTheyDie

IfTheyDie helps people monitor names over time and review likely public death matches with source evidence.

Updated May 15, 2026

Summary

IfTheyDie exists for a practical problem: people need to know when someone important to them or their work has passed away, but repeated manual searching is unreliable and emotionally draining.

What we are building

IfTheyDie is a death monitoring and review product. Users add people to a watchlist, the system checks public sources over time, and likely matches are shown with evidence and confidence so a user can confirm or dismiss them.

Principles

  • Be honest about coverage and uncertainty.
  • Show source evidence before asking users to act.
  • Keep sensitive watchlist data private.
  • Separate "possible match" from "officially verified."

Early access status

The product is still moving toward launch. Some backend, billing, notification, and provider integrations are still being hardened, so the public site currently routes visitors to the waitlist.
